You should be alright with all seasons tyres. As for chains and a shovel I was told when I first came here to carry them and I do brand new never been used, I must admit I have not got a clue as to how you put chains on But I would rather carry them and take a risk. We have seen in the news in past winters that Mountain areas are banned if you have not got the chains. I always say better safe than sorry g

You must also always carry a triangle and a yellow high vis vest. Some say a first aid kit as well. Fire extinguisher etc.

I also carry a small bag of rock salt.

But better still go nowhere in snow

Thanks for all the info. Have got the first aid kit etc. Needed to carry them when driving over anyway.
We may end up buying winter tyres, as we were stopped by the police a while back for speeding -
which we weren't! Not being neurotic of course!!
