My wife and I went to our local pub [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] ... on=history (my photography) which is set in the grounds of Broughton Castle the seat of Lord Saye &
Sele and a famous location for filming including, [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] Three Men and a Little Lady which I watched on TV this morning and Shakespeare in Love etc
Lord Saye is part of the Fiennes family. [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
The nursery rhyme Ride a Cock Horse to Banbury Cross to see a fine Lady on a white horse is only the school version where the word Fiennes was changed to fine. It should read to see a Fiennes Lady
Any way back to last night, the landlord put on free buffet food and at midnight he got us all out in the car park for the traditional Hogmanay celebrations with fireworks, balloons and a good old sing-song. My wife and i looked at each other had a kiss and cuddle and said good-bye to 2012, not one of our best years in our lives, and welcomed what we hope will be a fantastic 2013 ::

Weeeell, as we get up at 3.30am for me to be at work for 5, we were more than ready for bed at our usual time of 9pm. Fireworks woke us briefly, but had a lie in till 4.30. (Tuesday is our day off.)

Hoping for a change of lifestyle within the next 12 months......

Mrs Eq

We saw the New Year in watching Jools Holland's Hootenanay Show on tv.
What a mix of talent ranging from Petula Clark , The Dubliners and Bobby Womack through to
Dexys Midnight Runners and Adam Ant to name but a few !!
Brenda and I drank a toast to 2013 and what we hope will be a year full of adventure.
Now the real work begins. Many trials and tribulations ahead ..........of that
I'm sure...........but not lacking in interest !!

We had a power cut from teatime onwards so we went to bed, lit a couple of candles and spent the evening watching a comedy show on the laptop. praying the battery didnt run out before the end. 2012 wasnt a very good year for us, had five spells in hospital with kidney problems so hoping this year will be better. g

We too, went to bed early although we saw the flashes and heard the bangs of the fireworks let off in the square. Contrary to what some Brits like to romanticize of life in a Bulgarian village, not a lot happens. Its family time over the holiday although we all troupe to the square for a walk out wishing each other ''çhestita mnogo godini'' (Happy many years).
As for television, forget it. All kiddy stuff and films until Jan 1st (or was it December 31st?) when there were a couple of brilliant modern grown up thriller films on. Unfortunately they were on in the afternoon when the sun shone brightly outside. Shame. Still the holiday week is for children really I suppose and I thoroughly enjoyed''Snowman and Snowdog'' on UK TV.
